I started Smith Butler in April 2000 having worked in accountancy for over 12 years. During this time, I worked at a top 10 firm of chartered accountants and a large independent firm of accountants.
As a director at Smith Butler, I provide innovative advice and support to our clients in all areas of accountancy and business-related matters.
I look after clients of varying sizes from a sole trader plumber to large limited companies with turnover in excess of £50m.
Our clients are also from a wide variety of different industries including construction, manufacturing, retail, hospitality, engineering, online retail & services, wholesale, importers & exporters, legal & professional services, food, property, travel, medical, entertainment, childcare & nurseries, sports management, financial services, transport, motor trade, health, information technology, clubs & associations, consultancy, recruitment, golf professionals, football players, actors and actresses.
My aim is to help clients with whatever I can by providing proactive support to assist them in achieving their goals.
I am extremely passionate about anything accountancy, tax or business related. I get great satisfaction out of helping our clients succeed and being an integral part of that.
I specialise in all tax-related matters, including personal tax, corporate tax, HMRC investigations, and complex tax planning.
I really enjoy working with clients to reduce their tax liabilities!
In addition, I also provide specialist advice on business sales, acquisitions, mergers, due-diligence, and valuations.
Outside of work I enjoy playing golf, watching football, and socialising with friends. I also enjoy reading and travel.

I joined Smith Butler in 2006 after working for two top 10 firms of Chartered Accountants. During my time working for these firms, I carried out Audits, specialised in Solicitors Accounts and worked with clients from sole traders to large multi-national companies.
My role at Smith Butler is varied, no day is ever the same. I look after all aspects of accountancy, tax and business matters for a wide variety of clients from sole traders to larger limited companies.
I really enjoy helping clients achieve their goals and supporting them with all aspects of running their business.
Our clients are from a wide variety of different industries including construction, manufacturing, printing, retail, hospitality, engineering, online retail & services, wholesale, importers & exporters, legal & professional services, food, property, travel, medical, entertainment, childcare & nurseries, sports management, financial services, transport, motor trade, health, information technology, clubs & associations, consultancy, recruitment, golf professionals, football players, actors and actresses.
I am very particular, and I pride myself on my attention to detail as this in turn enables me to provide accurate, timely and correct advice to my clients.
I really enjoy working with clients to help them with their business on a day-to-day basis, plan for their future and reduce their tax liabilities!
Away from work I run a Semi Professional Football Club which is often far harder than my day job!
You will also find me cheering on Bradford City and when I am not doing anything football related I like to shop…… I love a nice pair of shoes, just ask Jason!
I am a really keen reader, and nothing makes me happier than sitting in the sunshine on holiday reading a good book.
